“We Are In This Together” Limited Edition Print Sale to benefit Southern Poverty Law Center

STATEMENT:

As a painter, culture warrior and an avid observer, I paint what captures my heart and eye.  I’m moved by the way light plays with objects as well as scenes that we tend to take for granted or are so mundane they become invisible.  I enjoy reworking the same view in different ways, ever curious as to how it can be transformed.

BIO:

Born to a painter and a physician, my mother was my first painting teacher.  There were many stops and starts in my journey to paint as I struggled with the practicality of pursuing such a life, but the pull of passion was strong and at 36 years old, completed my BFA in painting.  After 13 years in Seattle, I returned to the east coast in 2012, settling first in Providence, RI and now more recently in Brooklyn, NY, with a studio in Sunset Park.

In Seattle, I had the privilege of enjoying a studio space for 4 years in the historic and beloved 619 Western Arts building (www.619western.com) before the artists were evicted in September 2011 due to the pending viaduct demolition and structural building issues.

RIP 619.
